False Start

One day we were strangers and the next we weren’t. We became more — well at least to me. We got to know things about each other. Nothing too personal, but enough — at least it was enough for me. Then our electronic communication turned into being in each other’s presence. We enjoyed each other’s company — at least I did anyways. Things kept moving like a train on tracks, but eventually things took a turn. We became more. We became closer. We became intimate. But only one of us fell in love and that one was me — at least I don’t believe you did. Then everything changed. You felt distant. And you announced that this just wasn’t what you really wanted and you left. You left me standing alone. We never had a chance. You never afforded us with one. But beyond the hurt, all I could think about was how it was over before it even begun.
